Pro Tips: Anything of Value Takes Time

One sure way of messing with the magic of the Way of Life Method is to rush through the process and expect quick results. When I hear clients and students of the Method say that they cannot wait for Stage 2 or 3 and wish they were “there” already, when they ask how long will it take before their dog recovers from one issue or another, I explain that this process can only deliver if given the time that it needs.

Look around at how many things and situations of value result from giving things time. Finishing a degree with good grades. Learning a skill or trade. Growing a garden. Putting a good meal together. Raising good kids. Raising sound dogs.

Anything of quality takes time and those who succeed with the Way of Life Method play the long game. Because they know in their gut that this process will pay off, they’re not concerned with how long it takes. They’re not affected by daily fluctuations, swings, or shifts between success and setback. They know this is all part of a nonlinear process that is ultimately working for the benefit of all involved, humans included.

If you’re just getting started with the Way of Life Method, it is normal to wonder how long the process takes but eventually this needs to stop being a concern. We give up control and exchange it for confidence. We trade one mindset for another because the Way of Life Method isn’t just about what we’re doing with our dogs, it is especially about becoming the kinds of people our dogs need and deserve.
