A Letter From Me to You
To the passionate and dedicated dog lover,
If you’re reading this, chances are you’re determined to raise great dogs, deepen your bonds with them, and address their behavior issues.
You might have paid dearly for tools and training that took you nowhere.
You’ve sampled, unsuccessfully, everything the dog training industry had to offer.
You’ve come to understand that you need to go beyond conventional dog training, which is not always evident.
Then, finally, perhaps you came across my book, The Way of Life Method, or you landed on our website, and you deeply resonate with our philosophy and practice. You realize it is the piece you have been missing all this time.
Now, you want to make sure you can apply it correctly in your unique circumstances, to help you achieve your goals with more certainty in a relatively short time.
Is this the right program for you?
I created this program for driven people just like you. People who sense intuitively that there is a different and better way. People who feel immediately drawn to the insights and teachings of the Way of Life Method and desire customized coaching to bring the magic of the Method to your own life.
You bring the discipline and hard work, the passion for dogs and the belief that if you apply yourself to the work, you will reap the rewards. You are ready to do what is needed to get what you want from your life with dogs.
You want direct interaction and personal attention you can’t get from traditional group training. You want support and advice right when you need it, not at your next class.
You are prepared to invest time, money, and energy to achieve the peace of mind and confidence that comes with being coached privately, intensively, in person and virtually, with 24/7 messaging any time you need it.
The Way of Life Method Is Unique
Way of Life® Dog Training stands out in the dog training industry because we go beyond unwanted behaviors and focus on root cause, without reinforcement techniques or control tools.
The Method helps you understand the dog’s point of view and see the world through their eyes. As you do this, you start to see that the environment that you create for your dog is a key factor in their behavior and quality of life.
The Way of Life Method takes you through a series of principles to better understand your dog and design a way of life that will help you raise a sound, strong, and spirited companion – a way of life that will fulfill you both!
The Last Training You Will Ever Need
Many people come to us having almost lost hope, until they discover that the Way of Life Method works. Their only regret was not starting sooner. But getting started is not necessarily easy.
Many of our clients found themselves in a position just like yours – frustrated by their past failures but also daunted by the changes that the Method asks of them. They were also concerned about spending more money, more time, and more energy on yet another so-called solution.
These are all normal fears, but they pale in comparison to the fear of living with problematic behavior for the rest of your dog’s life, missing out on the life and relationship with your dog you had hoped for or deciding to part ways with your dog and living with the shame and guilt. This Method is a gift and an investment in both your lives.
Get Started Today
I urge you to not wait to get the help you need. If you’re struggling with behavior issues, do not assume that time will fix them or that mainstream training methods will be good enough. And if you’re trying to get started right with a new dog or puppy, this is your opportunity to create a powerful first impression and a much greater likelihood that you will thrive in the long term.
If this program of intensive and transformational coaching is the solution you are seeking, please click below to complete your application. We will schedule an interview with you to determine whether you are a good fit for this transformative coaching program.
Warmest wishes,

The Problem
There’s an overwhelming amount of advice about dog behavior out there, much of it contradictory. And, as I found out through my own personal journey, much of it is downright harmful to our bond with our dogs. This has caused an extraordinary rise in behavior issues in dogs of all backgrounds, breeds, and ages. Even young pups are manifesting anxiety, aggression, and fearful behavior.
Standard solutions do not go deep enough. They may even alienate you from your dog, taking you further from your dreams of adventure, companionship, and connection. Interventions like tools of control, obedience training, or psychotropic medication suggest that the problem lies with the dog, overlooking your way of life.
Of course, we could not disagree more.
The Solution
How do we build solid relationships with our dogs?
How do we raise the companion of a lifetime?
How do we heal our dogs’ behavior issues kindly and permanently?
The answer lies in our way of life and how we raise our dogs. Dogs bring their unique canine nature to our relationship, and we bring our way of life to nurture this relationship.
To enjoy this new way of life, we must think differently about our dogs and the behaviors that they manifest. We must realize that our relationship with our dogs is formed by our way of life decisions. When we focus on way of life, our efforts shift from training to raising our dogs over multiple stages of development.
We need to be conscious of the decisions we make every day in the four aspects that
constitute our way of life:
- Attitudes and mindsets
- Management of space and boundaries
- Socialization
- Drive development
By focusing on raising our dogs and being attentive to the environments and experiences we create for them, the Way of Life Method goes to the root cause of dog behavior as opposed to working at the surface. By doing this, it exceeds the promises of training and avoids the use of superficial training tools and techniques.
Who the Program Is For
The Mastery program is for three types of dog guardians who are determined to realize the dream they imagined for their dog:
The Proud Owner of a New Puppy
who wants to survive the confusion that all puppy owners face. With so much conflicting information
out there, you want to be sure you’re doing right by your pup now and over the long term.
The Adopter of a Rescue or Shelter Dog
with a difficult past to heal from. You want a plan that will help your dog not only recover,
but also become a sound and strong dog, one that you would never guess was once homeless.
Longtime Companion of a Dog with Behavior Issues
that you know you need to address once and for all if you and your dog
are ever to be happy. You want to end the guilt, uncertainty, and frustration of dealing with reactivity,
separation anxiety, resource guarding or fighting between dogs. You want your dog to live their best life,
where they trust you and you trust them.
My Own Story and Proof
One of the many reasons that I am so confident in this Method is because I have firsthand experience with it, along with countless experiences with my clients and students.
My heart dog, Maya, put me on this path. After I adopted her more than 20 years ago, I discovered she had issues that were beyond my level of expertise. I tried everything with her, the relentless socialization, constant training, intense exercise and exposure, until finally I understood it was our situation that needed to change. Since Maya’s transformation, every human and dog I have worked with has reinforced my confidence in the Way of Life Method as I have developed it over the years.
My commitment to change the entire conversation on how dogs are seen and raised drove me to write The Way of Life Method, and I’ve been coaching people just like you ever since and helping them reap its rewards.
How the Way of Life Method Works
The Method asks you to look beyond behavior, to find the power to change your dog’s attitude by changing the way of life and shifting your focus from simply training to rearing the dog over time.
We begin our coaching with a Way of Life Audit, exploring how you have understood and applied the four pillars of the Method to your own life, including:
1.
Your mindset and attitude towards dogs
2.
Your management of space and boundaries
3.
How you harness your dog’s inherited drives
4.
How you socialize your dog

About Souha, Your Canine Rearing & Relationship Coach
I am Souha, the founder of Way of Life Dog Training and author of The Way of Life Method, and I am delighted to meet you.
A little earlier, I told you about my journey with my dog Maya and how we struggled until I realized that changing her behavior required me to look at our way of life as the root cause. This was despite me being a behavioral scientist by training – someone who understood that, just as with people, situations can bring out the best or the worst in our dogs.
Once I grasped the power of our way of life, my relationship with Maya and my life as a human being took a different turn.
Today, as coach at Way of Life Dog Training, I take deep pride in bringing a particular blend of education, expertise and experience to my coaching and training practice for my clients and students. I am a:
Dog handler and parent to many dogs
Rescue and shelter volunteer dog-walker, trainer and foster parent
Dog sport enthusiast and competitor, familiar with a range of sports
Recipient of mentoring by many dog experts
Graduate of countless seminars and courses
Founder and coach of Way of Life Dog Training since 2019, dealing with every breed, background and behavioral issue
And because of this, Way of Life Dog Training stands apart in the dog training industry. Instead of working with behavior, as most of my colleagues in the business do, I work with the ways of life and relationships behind canine behavior. We have yet to work with a dog who does not respond well when we work with relationship and focus on way of life.
Regardless of what brought you to us, I look forward to working with you!

Frequently Asked Questions
1. How can I trust that this Method will work? It’s so different from anything I’ve encountered before and, frankly, it seems rather daunting.
Taking a leap into something new, different, and at odds with what the mainstream dog culture has taught you isn’t easy. But if you find yourself struggling with behavior issues, want to raise a wonderful dog, and feel that your bond could be deeper and stronger, then we hope you will keep an open mind and draw courage from the love you feel for your dog. Overcoming natural resistance to change is in itself an act of love, courage, and commitment to your dog – and the first step in healing your relationship.
2. Cost of living is a real concern. How can I know that private training will be worth it?
Things are expensive these days, and most of us just want to say “No!” to any additional spending. With everything costing so much, you might think you should just go it alone because you can’t afford the investment in the Mastery Program. But it is, in fact, an investment and not a loss – an investment in your knowledge, your dog and family, and everyone’s long-term happiness and well-being. We have countless examples of clients whose lives have been healed as a result of investing in Way of Life Method training.
3. Will my dog progress faster with private lessons?
The one-on-one approach of the Mastery Program provides you and your dog with 6 months of customized attention and intensive training sessions, and therefore greater opportunity to improve your situation. However, results also depend on your contribution to the process. You need to be fully involved and committed, doing the homework and making the necessary changes to see maximum benefit from private training.
4. Would private training be best for dogs with anti-social behavior who don’t do well with strangers and other dogs?
When you are coping with reactive behavior, it can be difficult to participate in group training scenarios that overagitate your dog. Private training allows your dog to learn at a more comfortable pace.
However, the Mastery Program is intended to help you with whatever issues you are experiencing and whatever your goals. If you have adopted a rescue or shelter dog with a difficult past, you want them to heal and grow sound, strong, and spirited. If you have a new puppy, we can get you both started off right to prevent problems from developing down the road. If you have a longtime canine companion with persistent issues, we can look at your way of life and how to redesign it to resolve troubled behavior and build a deeper bond.
5. Will the private lessons take place at my home?
Depending on the behavior issues you are dealing with, private training may take place in a few venues, including your home, Way of Life’s training facility, and public areas near both. If, for instance, your dog displays reactivity, anxiety, or fear in certain situations, it will be more beneficial at some point in the training process to expose them to unfamiliar environments.
6. What do you mean by deciding whether the applicant is a “good fit”?
A crucial requirement of the Way of Life Method is taking full responsibility for our dogs’ behavior and not excusing it because of their history or breed. We are looking for clients who are willing to take ownership of their dog’s attitude and behavior.
As well, the Method requires clients to make changes to their way of life with their dogs, even if these prove challenging at times. So, in assessing applications to the Mastery Program, we will select people we think can get on board with our approach.
7. From what I understand, the Way of Life Method calls upon owners to withhold affection from their dogs. Is this true?
The Way of Life Method is designed in 3 stages. The first stage, or Foundations, is establishing a new way of living with your dog. If you are experiencing unwanted behavior issues and yet are also “approving” them by showing your dog unlimited affection and privileges, then your dog has zero impetus to change. In Stage 1 of the Method, we ask you to withhold your emotions and adopt a manner of professional detachment as your dog gets used to the new terms. Nothing could be more loving than wanting to heal your dog and your relationship and make the necessary changes.
8. I am willing to change how I think, feel, and act toward my dog if it will help her. But I’m not so sure about my partner. Will this work if they are not in agreement?
In a word, no. It is extremely difficult to implement a new way of life with your dog if someone in the same home is actively or passively against it. However, it is not uncommon to have a difference of opinion when presented with something as revolutionary as the Way of Life Method. We have a great deal of experience in coaching reluctant clients to at least try the steps we recommend at the beginning and very often once they see what a difference the Method makes, they are converts.
9. What kind of time commitment does the Mastery Program involve?
The program extends over 6 months. For our part, we offer 6 intensive 1-2-hour training sessions, as well as 24/7 messaging support and zoom calls as needed. Our clients should make not only time for those 6 private sessions but for regular follow ups and communication throughout the program’s duration. Sharing your progress and setbacks along the way is essential to the success of your private training.
